Follow Lucy as she grows and learns along with her family and friends through make-believe magic, scavenger hunts, temper tantrums, and wild animal encounters. You know—totally normal kid stuff.
Lucy and Grace are sisters, but they’re also best friends. These girls love to learn, play, and even practice sign language together! Lucy may be different because she has Down syndrome, but that’s part of what makes her so special. Sure, she gets frustrated sometimes, but with Grace’s help, she can get through anything. Even a game of dress-up.
It’s the perfect day for a trip to the zoo, and Lucy and Grace have invited you! Tag along with these two curious girls as they learn all about a few wild new friends: elephants, rhinos, and some turtle pals; monkeys, meerkats, and even big cats - wow! Throw in some hide-and-seek and a merry-go-round, and you’ve got the makings of one truly fabulous adventure.
Tricks and treats are the order of the day, as Lucy and pal Phoebe visit a bewitching Halloween Village. Follow the friends on their spooky scavenger hunt: searching for clues, solving riddles, and having a ghoulishly-good time. Black cats, witch hats, thrills, and chills. This day is so fun it’s scary.

The My Sister Lucy book series is for all preschoolers/young readers of any ability to enjoy. The perfect addition for all school and home digital libraries! They are about acceptance, inclusion and real friends just exploring and enjoying the world together! Although the first book introduces Lucy and encourages the conversation about Down syndrome, it is not the focus of all of the books. Lucy is a main character like any other main character – she experiences the same fabulous adventures as any other curious child her age!

Sue Workman is the author and illustrator of My Sister Lucy, Lucy at the Zoo and Lucy’s Halloween Treasure Hunt. Sue is both a practicing physical therapist who works with children of all ages and a professional photographer whose passion for photography started while living in New York City. She loves being behind the camera to capture the simplest moments of life to tell a story.
After receiving her Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in 1991 and a Masters of Arts in Applied Physiology from Columbia University in 1995, Sue, along with her husband Michael, started professionaltherapies.com and bamboobrace.com. She currently resides in Salt Lake City with her husband, her four favorite kiddos, and one adorable Shih Tzu.
